Autism, or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), is a neurological developmental disorder that affects how a person communicates, interacts socially, and responds to the world around them. It is called a “spectrum” because each individual experiences autism differently — with unique strengths, challenges, and ways of learning.

While autism is lifelong, with understanding, acceptance, and the right support, individuals on the spectrum can thrive, achieve independence, and contribute meaningfully to their communities.

As a parent of a child with autism, I wanted to express my gratitude for the recent improvements in the school’s support system for students with special needs, particularly those on the autism spectrum.
Firstly, the implementation of individualized education plans (lEPs) has been instrumental in tailoring educational experiences to meet the unique needs of each student. The collaborative approach between teachers, therapists, and parents in developing and revising these plans ensures that my child receives the necessary support to thrive academically and socially.
Additionally, I appreciate the efforts made to create a more inclusive environment within the school community, Initiatives such as awareness campaigns, peer support programs, and sensory-friendly accommodations have fostered a greater sense of understanding and acceptance among students and staff alike.
Furthermore, the training provided to teachers and staff in autism awareness and intervention strategies has greatly enhanced their ability to effectively engage with and support students with autism. This has resulted in a more positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and respected.
Overall, I am encouraged by the progress that has been made in enhancing the educational experience for students with autism at our school. However, I believe there is always room for improvement, and I am committed to working collaboratively with the school to continue advocating for the needs of students with autism.

As a mum of twins living with the spectrum and they being non verbal as well, has been a great challenge for me for about four (4) years now. I was depressed, desperate and all the words you can think of. I needed an instant miracle and at the same time asking myself so many questions of how I’m going to leave with them as they are nonverbal and that is when I got to know they have autism.
Well, as a mum with kids of many needs my utmost wish was to see them grow out of the things they couldn’t do for themselves so they can leave their independent lives, e.g. bathing for themselves, brushing of teeth, feeding and most importantly the potty training, until I met Hopesetters Autism Center. Hopesetters has really done a phenomenal job on my twins and I’m glad that I’m part of the family.
Their unconditional love and support for the kids is overwhelming.
Now my kids are potty trained and they visit the washroom as and when they want with my little or no assistance. It is of so much joy and relief to see such great improvement with our kids with the spectrum. The consistency in mums like us, to support our kids with the spectrum truly becomes tough at times and Hopesetters Autism Center is really doing a great job by helping our babies and we appreciate it so much. Today I can boast that my twins are well potty trained by the center which is of so much relief to mothers like us.
